Book Addicts Anonymous
|About this Journal|
Yes, this is a support group for book addicts. No, we don't plan to cure anyone. I'm not sure it's possible, or for that matter advisable. Remember what Groucho Marx said: "Outside of a dog, a book is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."
If you're new here, please browse through the entries tagged "question" and answer one or more in posts of your own.
You may also post new questions: anything except "What is your favorite book?" If we could answer that question, we wouldn't be here.
If you'd like to introduce yourself, you're welcome to make a post in this format!
Happy reading, everyone!

Epic Fantasy Author (and yes, I do mean that /he/ is epic) Patrick Rothfuss is allergic to cats. And I thought I was the only person in the entirety of fantasy fandom who didn't own a cat! Read more about my latest meeting with him here.

What are your thoughts on this?

So, I'm thinking of making bookaddiction into a facebook group instead of-- or at least in addition to-- an LJ community. Trendy, I know, but I just think it will work better in terms of formatting and logistics-- easier to post pics, links, goodreads links, etc.
Thoughts? If I moved us to facebook, would you join up there? Is there another social media site you think would work better?
Also, if anyone can think of a better name for the facebook group than "Book Addicts Anonymous," please let me know!

A few notes on the frustrations of working at a library, by the incomparable padparadscha . I suspect many of us would like to join up with the League.

An only slightly tasteless comedy site:
Better Book Titles
and their blog
My favorites, improved:
The Grapes of Wrath - actually this could apply to an awful lot of Steinbeck's work
And a few honorable mentions
The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie
A Clockwork Orange - Anthony Burgess
new takes on Beowulf and The Epic of Gilgamesh
